Veneers are recommended for a variety of teeth to improve the look of the outer shell of the tooth. A veneer is made out of thin porcelain and adhered directly to the outside of a tooth. Veneers are great for restoring teeth that have spacing, are uneven, discolored, broken or chipped. Veneers can also be used to cover teeth that are too large or small. Your dentist can examine your smile, find out your goals and let you know if porcelain veneers are right for you.
The Veneer Process
A veneer can be completed in as little as two visits! The process normally requires little or no anesthesia. During the first visit, the tooth that will be covered with the veneer will be buffed and shaped in preparation for the veneer to be placed. Then a mold will be taken, so that the final veneer can be made. The veneer is color-matched to surrounding teeth or can be a shade chosen by you and your dentist. A temporary veneer will be placed until the second visit while the final veneer is being custom-made. During the second visit, the final veneer will be adhered to your tooth, giving you a restored smile!
